First loose tooth....

So yesterday Brooklyn was rambling on and on and on......she does this every day. She talks about stuff that happened at school, a show on TV, our neighbors, our family, a book that she read recently, a dream that she had or an entirely made up story......basically she just talks(or sings) ALL day long.

Anyways, I was not feeling very good and was lying on the couch trying to tune her out so I could take a nap and then I heard her say that her tooth was bendy. I bolted upright and asked her to show me what she meant. She came over and sure enough she has her first loose tooth...I wanted to cry! This means that my baby is loosing her first baby tooth and will be getting in her "for the rest of her life grown-up teeth". In my head I yelled "NO! You are my baby and you are not allowed to grow up!!!" But what I said was more like "Oh wow Baby Llama! You are loosing a tooth! Go show Daddy!"

She ran into the other room to tell her Daddy the news and I sat and composed myself. I heard Jon cheer for her and then he told her about the tooth fairy. I could hear the excitement in her voice as she asked him questions, and then she ran down the hallway to tell me the amazing new information she had just learned. Then as a family we discussed whether the tooth fairy is a man or a woman. Let me know what you think about that one, will ya?

I didn't think this would be a big deal to me, but it is. This is the tooth that I cried with her over as it broke through her gums, the one that I cleaned with a washcloth before I would put her in her crib, and before long it will be under a pillow waiting for the tooth fairy......**sigh**

As if that all weren't enough, today I looked into her mouth and saw that her permanent tooth is already coming in behind the loose baby tooth.

They just grow up way too fast.

What a big girl! That is so funny that she said her tooth is bendy! I can't believe that her new tooth is already coming in! I've never seen that before!! (Of course I'm not very experienced in the whole tooth-loosing thing... except for when I was a kid of course! hehe)

The most important thing she’d learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one."
