Shaklee review and Giveaway!!!

**This giveaway is closed**

Bonnie from House of Grace sent me a sample of
Shaklee's Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate to try out.

If you have read my blog for more than a minute you know that I am a fan of natural,
non-toxic cleaning and use vinegar, lemon and baking soda to clean my home.

I found this on their website:

When you pick Shaklee, you will know three things to be true.
It is always safe. It always works. And it is always green.
Needless to say I was pretty stoked to give this stuff a try!!!

This is what came in the mail.

And this is what was inside that little package...can you BELIEVE that?
It's so tiny!

I got my dollar store spray bottles out and followed the directions.

The sample made a bottle of window cleaner and an all purpose cleaner.
All from that tiny little vial and some water.
Now that's some crazy concentrated stuff!!!

Okay, so let's see what this stuff can do, shall we?

Here is my fingerprint covered fridge before.

Here is a close up of the goo that my son deposits daily.

And here is the fridge after cleaning it with the Basic H2.
So clean and shiny!

It helped quite a bit with the hard water stains on the water dispenser too.
From what I have seen I think Shaklee's Get Clean Scour Off
would probably finish up this job;)

Here's the T.V, covered with cracker goo, fingerprints
and lick marks from the toddler and the dog:
T.V. Before.

I sprayed on the Basic H2 window cleaner, wiped it down...
And here is the AFTER!
Shiny and Goo-less.

Okay, so I saved the grossest one for last. Don't look Anna! ;)
This is the sink in the master bathroom:
Before.
I can't believe I posted this...so gross!

I sprayed it with Basic H2 and easily wiped away the grime.
After.
Ahhhh, so clean!

I must say that I am impressed.

Wanna give this stuff a try yourself?
Of course you do, that was a silly question!

Natural All Purpose Cleaner

In doing what I can to keep toxins out of my home,
I have switched to a homemade all natural cleaner.

I don't know if you can tell, but I love me some LEMONS! ;)

This is the recipe I use to make my Natural All Purpose Cleaner:
Take a spray bottle from the Dollar Tree and some Vinegar.

Fill the bottle halfway with the Vinegar, then add in as much lemon juice as you want.
Lemons are antibacterial and smell so fresh, which helps to disguise the vinegar smell.
My husband is not a fan of said vinegar smell;)

Then fill the rest of the way with distilled water.

Label the bottle with the contents.
Shake before using.

I use this cleaner for EVERYTHING!
I love that I don't have to worry about cleaning around my kids and animals
or about adding more toxins to my house when I am cleaning.

Nothing but a naturally fresh, clean home.

Do you have any natural cleaning methods? I would love to hear them!

How I clean my microwave naturally

Yep, more LEMONS!

I love {LEMONS}!

Warning: Grossness ahead!

Here is my dirty microwave. Pretty gross right?

Not gonna lie, this is not even the worse that it has been.

I used to hate cleaning the microwave
until I discovered this cleaning method several years ago:

Put a cup with water and the juice of one lemon in the microwave.
I also throw the peels in there for the lemon oil essence.
Microwave on high for 3 minutes and let it sit for 10 minutes.

When you open it you will see this...lemony condensation.

See the moisture in there? That is what has softened all the crud.
Use a damp cloth and wipe out the microwave.
It comes right off!!!

No scrubbing, no toxic chemicals...just a fresh clean microwave.

Look at how shiny it is!

Yet another reason why I love {LEMONS}!

Lemony Fresh!

So yesterday I posted about my love of {LEMONS} and a juice tip.
If you haven't read it yet, go here: When life gives you lemons.

Lovely Lemons.

Remember that I told you not to throw these away?
Here's why:

I fill a pot halfway with water, then add lemon peels and a splash of vinegar.
(I usually don't put this many in at a time, but I had so many!)

Simmer over med-low heat and enjoy the sweet smell.
Add more water as needed.

I do this whenever I have lemons and want to freshen up my house.

Another thing I do with the lemon peels:
Freshen my garbage disposal!!!

Throw a few lemon peels along with some ice into the disposal and run like normal.
The ice sharpens the blades and the lemon cleans and freshens.
My whole kitchen smells like lemons(especially if I am also simmering lemon peels).

I love {LEMONS}!!!

I have more lemon tips to share, so see you soon!

All Natural Carpet Powder

I have a dog and kids and my carpets can get a little funky sometimes.
You know what I'm talking about, right?
If you are thinking:
No Amy, my carpet is steam cleaned every other day and there is no funk anywhere in my house. You are disgusting and I will never read your blog again!!
Then I apologize, and politely ask you to kick rocks. ;)

If you are human and need a natural way to freshen your carpets, read on!

I used to use those commercial carpet powders that you sprinkle on the carpet and then vacuum. I loved how they freshened the carpet, but I didn't like the chemicals.

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer, so I decided to make my own carpet powder.

What you need:
1. Baking soda
2. Essential Oil of your choice
3. Cheese Shaker
4. Jar with a lid for mixing

Place Baking soda in the lidded jar, add several drops of essential oil(I like mine kinda strong), put the lid on and shake it up. Then scoop it into the cheese shaker and sprinkle on your carpets. I let it sit overnight and then vacuum.

The baking soda absorbs odor and the essential oil leaves a nice scent on the carpet.

This is my cheese shaker. I got it at the Dollar Tree.
See those holes? They make sprinkling the powder over the carpet so so so easy!
No lumps, just nicely distributed powder.

I chose to use Lavender because I LOVE it, but you can use whatever you like.

Here is my mixing jar; It used to hold bath salts.

I made this for my carpets, but really I use it anywhere I use baking soda.
Today I used it to scrub the kitchen sink and it smelled wonderful as I scrubbed
