15 things you never knew you wanted to know about me.

Longest. Title. Ever.

Anyway, Lu from I am Just Lu wrote 15 things about her, then she challenged 5 other bloggers to do the same and I am one of her 5! Yeah baby! I heart her just a little;)

So here goes...
1. I have 5 brothers and 8 sisters.

2. I was home schooled.

3. I coached gymnastics for over 7 years and am dying to get back into it.

4. I make an incredible dolphin sound that I learned from my cat. I am famous in some circles because of it.

5. I love the beach...it is the most therapeutic place on the earth for me.

6. I won't go into the ocean because sharks will kill me.

7. I have 1 dog, 4 cats and 7 chickens.

8. I love coffee and Diet Pepsi and don't drink nearly enough water.

9. I have a hard time sticking to a schedule, yet I am always trying to make a new one.

10. I clean my house with vinegar and baking soda.

11. I didn't know that I was creative until I turned 31.

12. Both of my children were born early(go ahead and hate me).

13. I have bungee jumped and ridden in a hot air balloon. The balloon was WAY scarier.

14. I read Breaking Dawn cover to cover in one bath.
I got in at 10PM and got out at 5:30AM.

15. I don't shower when I go camping. Why get clean just to walk outside and get dirty again?

Okay, now I need to tag 5 bloggers so they can share too much about themselves as well.
I hope they play along!

31 Weeks

That's right! Only 9 +/- weeks to go until we get to meet our baby boy. Jon had a dream two nights ago that made me laugh and then shudder:
When our son is a toddler, he's gonna look like Chuck Liddell with a buzz-cut mohawk and goatee, and his nickname is "Tank"
Oh man! So now we are calling him Tank. With how hard he kicks me in the ribs and hip bones I am thinking this nickname is spot on.

I left you Daddy...

This evening was so nice out...it cooled down enough that we were able to go out a bit before bedtime. Jon was working on the misters for my deck(Yay!), while Brook fed branches to the goat and I sat and watched all the animals playing together....it was a very peaceful evening.

Brooklyn ran past Jon on her way to get something from the house and then stopped and came back and said, "I left you Daddy!" Jon and I looked at each other and shrugged because, well, she's our daughter and she can be quite strange sometimes. She saw our look and decided to explain: "My heart is on the left side of me and so I left you means that I love you." Then she skipped off towards the house while Jon and I laughed and shook our heads.

I totally "left" that kid!

Bud

Last Wednesday after picking Brooklyn up from school we came home to find a dirty old Basset Hound in our yard. He looked so tired and he walked over to a tree and plopped down in the shade. I made Brook stay inside while I went to see if he was alright and if he had tags. No tags, but he was such a sweetheart that I just knew he was a lost pet.

Jon put him in the truck for me and Brooklyn and I drove door to door to find his home. It was mid afternoon on a weekday, so most homes were empty. I came home and we fed him and made him a place to sleep. He was so smelly that Jon gave him a bath, but that didn't seem to help much. I hear these dogs are just smelly. We didn't know what to call him and so Jon and I were calling him "Stinky Pete". Brooklyn got so mad at us....she said "That is an awful name! Call him "Sweety"!"

Jon suggested that we make a poster, so I whipped one up and he went and posted them around our neighborhood.

Saturday morning while we were at Brooklyn's soccer game(she won!), I got a call from a neighbor who saw our poster as well as an add in the paper about a lost dog that matched the description. She called the guy and gave him our numbers and she gave us his number. I called him when we got home and we confirmed that it was Bud, his lost dog.

When the guy showed up to pick up his dog Jon recognized him and his wife. They were his friend Joe's parents! So random. So now if Bud shows up here again I know where he lives.

2 Guinea Pigs and a Funeral

Friday I went to my Grandpas memorial service; it was in Citrus Heights at 10 in the morning. I really didn't want to deal with packing and staying the night so Brook and I got up at 6am and drove straight to the funeral home. The room was packed and the service was filled with more laughter and joy than it was tears. We were there to celebrate Grandpas life and all that he passed on to his 7 children and his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There was a great slide show of his life and many wonderful stories and memories shared. There was a picture of him sitting in a canoe filled with water and I was leaning over him; I was probably about Brooklyn's age. I remember he would send me to get him a beer or get the hose to add more water for him.

My Grandpa's name is Richard and the funeral director kept calling him Dick. My sisters and I found that pretty funny because I have never heard him called that. I think one of my uncles corrected him because half way through the service he started referring to him as Richard.

As the service came to a close they asked if anyone had anything to share. Fish shared a story and then I shared about a time when I was about three and went to give Grandpa a kiss and he stuck his dentures out at me. I cried and wouldn't kiss him for months:)

Another time he was getting a drink from what he called his "slop jar" which was just a jar of water he kept in the fridge so it would be really cold, and I was begging for a drink. Next thing I know the whole thing is being poured over my head!

After the service we went to Grandpa's house to have lunch and hang out. I was feeding my nephew Gilbert a bottle and I looked out at all the kids playing in the grass and saw what I thought was a small Pomeranian but was actually a long haired Guinea Pig. There was another one with not so long hair and Brooklyn was having so much fun playing with them. My uncle asked if I wanted them and I said Yes but that I would have to check with Jon first.

I called Jon and this was our conversation:

Jon: Hello.
Me: Is it cool if I bring home 2 Guinea Pigs and a cage?
Jon: Sure.
Me: Love you, Bye.

So random. Go to a funeral and come home with 2 Guinea Pigs.
The most important thing she’d learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one."
