Confetti Garland

While preparing for the Beanie Baby Birthday Bash
I came up with this super fun birthday garland.

I love it because it is so colorful and it looks like huge floating confetti.

I used a Yahtzee cup and traced a circle onto a piece of cardboard to use as a template.

I cut 30 circles out of 10 different colors of felt.
I only used 15 of each color in this garland and plan to use the rest to make two additional shorter garlands.

Taking 2 colors at a time I ran them through the sewing machine one after another,
to make a chain of colorful circles.

I think that is it just so much fun!

On the ends I sewed in a loop of ribbon to make hanging easier.

Glorious happy color.

Bliss.

Confetti Garland.

Now I need to make some more fun birthday decorations and make a birthday box.

Beanie Baby Birthday Bash

Brooklyn came home from school on Monday and told me that her beanie baby Herald, who she adopted for a class project, had a birthday coming up on January 7th.

We decided to have a little birthday party for her(Brooklyn decided that Herald was a her). When she checked the birth dates of her other two beanies she saw that they both had birthdays in December, so we made it a triple birthday party!

Meet the Birthday Beanies: SnoCap, Scoops and Herald.

I made a birthday garland for the beanies' party.
I call it the Confetti Garland and it will be making appearances at all our family parties from now on.

Here is Brooklyn with the birthday beanies and their friends from Toy Story.
It was quite a crowd!

Yep. We lit the candles...and sang.

Brooklyn helped them blow out the candles.

She was the happiest girl in the world that night.
She kept saying how it was the "Best day EVER!"

Oh, the things we do for our children;)

15 things you never knew you wanted to know about me.

Longest. Title. Ever.

Anyway, Lu from I am Just Lu wrote 15 things about her, then she challenged 5 other bloggers to do the same and I am one of her 5! Yeah baby! I heart her just a little;)

So here goes...
1. I have 5 brothers and 8 sisters.

2. I was home schooled.

3. I coached gymnastics for over 7 years and am dying to get back into it.

4. I make an incredible dolphin sound that I learned from my cat. I am famous in some circles because of it.

5. I love the beach...it is the most therapeutic place on the earth for me.

6. I won't go into the ocean because sharks will kill me.

7. I have 1 dog, 4 cats and 7 chickens.

8. I love coffee and Diet Pepsi and don't drink nearly enough water.

9. I have a hard time sticking to a schedule, yet I am always trying to make a new one.

10. I clean my house with vinegar and baking soda.

11. I didn't know that I was creative until I turned 31.

12. Both of my children were born early(go ahead and hate me).

13. I have bungee jumped and ridden in a hot air balloon. The balloon was WAY scarier.

14. I read Breaking Dawn cover to cover in one bath.
I got in at 10PM and got out at 5:30AM.

15. I don't shower when I go camping. Why get clean just to walk outside and get dirty again?

Neck Heating Bag

I carry my tension in my neck and shoulders
and end up spending alot of time on a heating pad.

I decided to make a more portable rice bag neck heater so that I could go from the couch to bed and not have to unplug anything. Plus with this there are no fears of fire hazards...Yay! Just pop it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and enjoy.

I cut a strip of fabric selvage to selvage 6 inches wide, folded it right side to right side and sewed the long edges together. Then I turned it right side out and sewed two lines about half way across to prevent the rice from traveling.
I call these "rice damns."

See the rice damn? So helpful.

I loosely filled the bag with rice and flax seeds which I had scented with lavender essential oil for added relaxation.

Then I tucked in the fabric on the open end and double stitched it closed.

The finished dimensions are about 20"x5" and it is the perfect size for my neck.

When mine was finished I let the husband try it out and he wouldn't give it back, so I was forced to make him one of his own!

Note: His is a few inches longer than mine so as to fit his manly neck better;)

Duuuuuude!

Day 4 of having a sick baby...I have some catching up to do on the 21 day organizing challenge, but right now I am watching Greys on Hulu and cutting felt circles to make a garland for this evenings Beanie Baby Birthday Bash. Yep. The boy is napping and that is what I am doing. Cutting felt.

Hopefully tonight when the kids are in bed I can get caught up with all the organizing and other bloggy stuff.
