Travis' Birthday Shirt

So I realize that Travis' birthday was nearly a month ago, but I forgot to share this because I have pregnesia. It's a real thing...look it up.

I made Travis a "2nd Birthday Shirt".

I took a shirt from his closet that had a few little stains on the front, appliqued a HUGE "2" onto a block of fabric and sewed it to the shirt with a zigzag stitch. It came out so cute and was made with what I had on hand already, so it was FREE!
Oh YEAH! I am definitely a fan of FREE.

His birthday was on a Sunday, so I thought it would be so cute for him to wear his new shirt to church. Unfortunately he took the "2" to mean "Go #2 all over this shirt"
and didn't even make it to his classroom wearing it.
**Sigh**

So his birthday shirt spent the day covered in poo in a ziplock bag in the car.
Kids are so gross.

Also, fire is crazy scary to some 2 year olds...
and that is amusing to Dad and Sissy.

Playdough Party Favors

Happy Halloween!

My friend Krista and I are in charge of planning and running our church's moms group.
We get together once a week to hang out and let the kids play.

We were planning a little Halloween playdate for the moms and kids and didn't really want to overload the kids with sugar. I thought about what I could bring, and with the majority of the kids being ages 2-3, I decided that Homemade Playdough would be perfect!

I picked up several packages of these reusable containers at the Dollar Tree.
They are each 12oz.

I made 3 double batches of Homemade Playdough in Purple, Orange and Green for Halloween.
*1/4 of a single batch is the perfect size for playing and fit nicely in the containers I purchased!*

While taking photos of the playdough my son decided to sit on my foot and lick my leg.
He thinks he's hilarious...I just think he's gross and a little bit cute;)

The containers looked so sad and naked,
so I got out my scrapbook paper and a circle cutter and went to town. I printed:
Happy Halloween!
{PLAYDOUGH}
on orange cardstock and cut it out with scissors,
then I used an adhesive roller to stick the paper to the lids and to attach the labels.

So cute, right?
The kids(and moms) loved them!

We had a few leftover after everyone left, so then I got to be the crazy mom at the park handing homemade playdough out to families as I came across them. I got some strange looks followed by amused grins, but the kids all begged to go home to play with the playdough so it was worth it! Ha ha ha!

Do you have any non-sugar Halloween ideas?
I would love to hear them!

Travis' Toddler Bag

Travis turned 2 last week, and for his birthday I made him a Toddler Bag.

He is at the point where he is too big for a full diaper bag,
but still needs to have a diaper, wipes, change of clothes and snacks handy.
Oh, does this boy ever need snacks!

It is a messenger bag that is sized just right for a toddler and the flap allows him to easily access the contents. Once he is done with diapers and all that he can use this as an explorer bag to carry around all his treasures!

The bag is made out of brown Duck Cloth, an owl fabric from Riley Blake Fabrics and a scrap of blue fabric from the remnant bin that just happened to match. I layed out 4 fabrics from my stash and let Travis choose. He loves owls just like his Mama and chose this one:)

Sweet little owl pocket for those miscellaneous little things.

I made the interior pocket in the contrasting blue to help it stand out.

Perfect size for a couple diapers, wipes, change of clothes, snack cup and a sippy!

Another view of it packed for the day.

Travis' Toddler Bag!

I used this tutorial for The Basic Messenger Bag at Mmm Crafts which is AMAZINGLY easy to follow, and adjusted the pattern pieces to make the bag the size that I wanted.

My finished bag dimensions are approximately 8 1/2" X 8 1/2" X 4"

I can't find the paper with my measurements on it right now,
but if you really want to know I can figure it out for you.

Moms' Car-GO Box

Between school, soccer, church, moms group, and just plain ol' errands I spend alot of time in and out of the car. I am sure all you moms feel the same way;) Some days are just crazier than others and require us to be gone longer than planned which can turn into hungry, cranky kids(and mom for that matter).

**Here are a few things that I keep in the car for those little daily emergencies.**

  • Flat of water bottles (this comes in handy almost daily)
  • A dish pan to keep all my little things organized
  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Changing Pad
  • Notebook
  • Coloring Book
  • Crayons
  • Monster Trucks
  • A change of clothes for the toddler
  • Ziplock bag for icky clothes...because $#!% happens;) Ha!
  • Wet Ones for sticky fingers
  • Snack Crackers
  • Fiber One Bars
  • A Picnic Blanket
  • Trash Bags
  • First Aid Kit
  • Children's Pepto-this stuff is awesome!
It is so great when I am out and about and have everything I need all in one place. Do you do something like this? What kinds of things do you keep in your car for mini-mergencies?

I'm having a...

BOY!!!

I am so very excited to be having another son! My appointment was not supposed to be until NEXT Wednesday, but I just could not wait that long to find out. I called yesterday, begging and pleading for an earlier appointment and was given one for the next day.

The images were quite obvious that it is a boy. I am elated for Travis to have a little brother to play with and also totally stoked because it will make room sharing so much easier. Plus, I still have all of Travis' clothes:)

Yipee! I am excited to make some baby boy stuff and to get started on the BOY room:)
