Eggs

Ouch.
Look at how huge that egg is!
Pretty sure it's a double yolk.

Yep, those eggs are green.

We have Ameraucana's and they are nicknamed the "Easter Egg Chicken"
because they lay different colored eggs: green, blue, pinkish brown, etc.

Each hen has her own color. Notice the variations in the colors?

6 of our new babies are also Ameraucana's and I am hoping we get a new color:)

I love having chickens!

{My Favorite Things} Gypsy and Loic Hat

I went to the Burlap Harlot Show over the weekend.
It was a lot of Shabby Chic stuff, which is not so much my thing.
I can appreciate the beauty of it, but I like COLOR! Bold, happy color.

There was furniture, vintage clothing, accessories, jewelry and so much more.

WARNING: Anatomy words ahead.

I was browsing through racks of vintage dresses in one booth when a display board caught my eye. It was covered in bright colored pendants and drew me in like a moth to a flame.
On my way over, I looked down and saw undies with the female reproductive system
screen printed on the front.

Ovaries? Check. Uterus? Check. Fallopian Tubes? Yep. The whole shebang.

Then I looked up at the colorful pendants.

It took me a minute to realize that they were labia's.
Uh huh, yeah, labia's.

I gasped and backpedaled out of the booth as fast as I could!

Looking back, I am surprised that I didn't knock anything(or anyone)
over in my haste to escape the "lady parts" booth.

As I turned to run I saw the booth owner,
who was wearing horns, grinning at me and trying not to laugh.

I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised with a name like Burlap Harlot, huh?

After that I was a little reluctant to enter booths all willy nilly,
but a rack of hats at Three Sixty Ecotique's booth made me catch my breath.

See what I found? Gah! I am in LOVE.

I love the little stitch details and the shape.
I was a little nervous about the shorter bill, but I actually like it alot.

Do you see that label?
Made in California with Love.

Not just made in the USA, but made in CALI!
Boom!

Northern California for that matter.
Double BOOM!

Oh, and as if I need more reasons to adore this hat?

Upcycled Fabric.
Hand Crafted.
Limited Edition.

Fair Wages to LOCAL sewing shops.

The main reason that I love it though is that is fits my tiny head perfectly!

And makes me feel amazing!

It doesn't keep me from looking like a dork though.
It's just a hat people, it's not magic;)
Duh.

This is me and my new favorite hat.

Do you have something that just makes you feel amazing?

Please share!
(Unless it's a labia pendant)

Paper Flower Coupons for Mothers Day

My daughter came home from school with this adorable gift for Mothers Day:

Isn't it so sweet?

Here is the back.

"Take a flower
And you will see
The special job
You've picked for me!"

Each flower had a chore or action written on the back.
I cashed in the hug and kiss one right away;)

I love that she signed it like this.

Mothers Day

My Mothers Day was wonderful.

I spent the morning at home with my kids and then we met my in-laws for a delicious brunch.

Me and my kids, Brooklyn and Travis.
I am so blessed to be the mother of such a sweet 8 year old girl
and an adventurous 19 month old son.

I love these two kids more than I ever could have imagined.

Me and my LOVE!

Free Mothers Day coffee!
Free coffee always tastes better...just sayin'.
Thanks Dutch Bros;)

This is what my hubby gave me:)
A picnic basket filled with some of my favorite treats and 2 dozen roses.

**Sigh**
I felt so loved!

My daughter made me a gift at school that I will share later...it is so cute!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day!!!

{Tutorial} Reversible Coffee Cozies

I have been wanting to make a coffee cozy for months,
but didn't like how most of them were attached with a huge button.

It is super cute, but would not fit in my car's cup holders
and really, the only time i buy a coffee is when I am "on the go".

Fitting in the cup holder was a must for me.

Then I thought, why have a cute fabric on the inside if you don't get to see it?

So I fixed both of my problems with one solution:
I sewed the cozy closed instead of using a button, and now it is reversible!!!

Oh yeah!!!
(Said like Vector from Despicable Me)

So I made a few;)
Okay, so maybe I made closer to fifty of them.
(They aren't all pictured)

I took them to my parent's house for Easter and let everyone choose their favorite,
starting with my Momma, then the Aunts, then my sisters and sister-in-law
and then the cousins and brothers(yes my brothers liked them too).

It was so much fun to watch them dig through to pick out their favorite.

My sister Trisha sent me a photo text a few days later of hers in use
and said that because of the coffee cozies she was no longer drinking the wrong coffee!!!
{There are alot of coffee drinkers in our family}
Apparently she just picks up whichever one is closest to her and drinks it.
Not anymore!
You're welcome family! ;)

This is the one I am currently using.
I {LOVE} the little love birds:)

And here is the reverse side.
I like the other side better, but if for some reason it is sticky with caramel
or something(that never happens) I can flip it and still look cute!

Wanna make one?

1. Trace a coffee sleeve from Starbucks onto a piece of cardboard
and add about a half inch all the way around to make a template.

2. Cut out 2 fabrics (make sure to flip the template after the first one).

3. Cut out a piece of batting the same size.

4. Place the fabrics right side to right side(the pretty side of the fabric),
then lay the batting on top and pin all the way around.

5. Using a 1/4 inch seam allowance,
sew almost all the way around, leaving a 2 inch opening for turning.

6. Snip the corners and then turn the cozy right side out
(so that the pretty fabrics are showing now).

7. Iron, making sure to tuck the fabric in at the opening
so it lines up with the rest of the cozy.

8. Then topstich all the way around.

9. Buy a coffee and wrap the cozy around the cup,
then use pins to keep it in the correct shape.

10. Using a zigzag stitch, sew the cozy together,
then turn it inside out and sew the other loose end.

11. Slip it on your coffee and feel super fancy.

I hope that all makes sense...if not leave me a comment and I will clarify.

This is what the sewed edge looks like.
Not as pretty as a button and loop, but it fits in my cup holder!

These would make a great Mothers Day gift!
Put one on an empty coffee cup with a gift card inside.

What mother doesn't desperately need like coffee?
