If you were a fly on a wall in my daughters bedroom last night you would have heard:
Mommy: "Goodnight Brooklyn, I love you."
Brooklyn: "Goodnight Mommy, I love you too. I love you more than a sleeping bag!"
Mommy: "I love you more than a sleeping bag and a pillow!"
Brooklyn: "I love you more than a sleeping bag, a pillow, a ring and a fan!"
Mommy: "Okay, you have to go to sleep or we will be doing this all night!"

A pink sharpie and a soccer ball...
I signed Brooklyn up to play soccer last weekend. This will be her first time playing soccer and her first sports team. She has taken gymnastics and dance classes before, but those just weren't her thing. Hopefully she will like soccer. She was really scared when I first started talking about it...she thought they would expect her to know how to play already. I told her that they would teach her and that they would practice together and then she was excited about it. Today after I picked her up from school we went to Big 5 and she picked out a pink and white soccer ball. Practice starts in a few weeks and we are all so excited to see how she likes it. I really hope she does, because once we start a season she will finish it:)
I just happened to have a pink sharpie to write her name on her new ball. She was pretty excited about that:)
Her kick is adorable...I am sure her technique could use some work though:)

Chatting over cheerios
I am not a breakfast person...I get up, make coffee and then usually I don't eat until lunch. This morning when I poured Brooklyn her cereal, I decided to sit at the table with her and have a bowl myself.
She is very chatty in the morning and thankfully I had a pen and paper handy to take a few notes about our conversation.
Here are my favorite bits:
Brooklyn: "God was dancing and He crashed into my stuff and woke me up and I was like, 'Oh good gracious!'"
Brooklyn: "My friend Morgan told me that if you don't brush your teeth at night and in the morning, they can fall out of your forhead. That's really creepy, huh Mom!"
I think I may eat breakfast more often:)

Tires and rope swings...
The weather has been so dreary lately. No rain, just blah. Today was bright, sunny and warm and so we went out to enjoy the sunshine. I grabbed a book, a coffee and my camera and sat outside watching Brooklyn play on the rope swing Jon made for her and the tractor tires that Jon had stacked up. It was just such a nice day. Here are some pictures from our sunny day:

My word for 2009
Happy New Year!
I read a blog today that encouraged me to chose a word for this new year. I had no problem deciding on what mine would be. It is a word that has been jumping out at me all over the place. It is a word that I have been working on already, and I have decided to make it my theme for 2009.
My word is SIMPLIFY
To simplify my life and get back to basics.
I have decided that my new years resolution will be to have NO new years resolutions. Yep, that's right.I tend to start the new year with ridiculous resolutions and complicated plans for myself, only to mess up once and then spin out of control in a vicious cycle of guilt and frustration, followed by more guilt and just one more brownie. Not this year. I have decided to keep things simple.

The most important thing she’d learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one."
